Our story

 

Owning a dive center in the Caribbean we witnessed the invasion of Lionfish with our own eyes. The good thing is that they taste great so whenever we had time we got out with the whole staff and hunt for them. Lionfish are almost impossible to catch with traditional fishing methods; the most effective way is with a scuba tank and a spear.

 

After many BBQ nights we start to experiment turning their beautiful fins into jewelry, first for friends, later we sold them in our shop and we got really enthusiastic by the feedback from our customers who bought them. This enthusiasm grew out in a small lionfish jewelry business. Lionfishfins.com was born.

 

In the meantime we have a small army of lionfish hunters, including ourselves, who bring us the fins. We don’t think the invasion will come to an end but the more lionfish we remove the better it is for our reefs, one lionfish at the time. Saving our reefs never looked this good!
